First off, find out how AARP is fighting to protect Social Security. We're mobilizing our numbers, calling for answers and opposing harmful customer-service cuts. Check out the latest Social Security news here.

The Ethel, named after AARP's inspiring founder Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus, started as a free weekly e-newsletter in August 2020. Since then, we've launched a public Ethel Facebook page, a closed Facebook group, The Ethel Circle, and another closed Facebook group, The Ethel On-The-Go. The Ethel Circle is a safe space where older women can talk openly and honestly about the very real joys and challenges associated with aging. The Ethel-On-The-Go group is for older women who love to travel. Here are five things going on in the Ethel World that you should know about right now.

  1. We asked: What's at the top of your bucket list? on the main Ethel Facebook page. Find out what 400 women had to say!
  2. There are now Ethel Gathering Groups in 45 states. Through these groups, older women are meeting up and making friends in cities across the country. To find out if there's a group in your area, go here.
  3. Find out how The Ethel Circle changed one older woman's life forever. An inspiring story!
  4. We're offering a women-only Road Scholar Ethel tour to New York City/Broadway in October 2025. This is a FABULOUS tour. Don't miss out. Sign up today as spaces are limited.
  5. This week's Ethel newsletter is out! Check out the article by a woman who feels like a widow even though she's married. It's getting tons of comments. Check out all of the new Ethel articles on the Ethel website.
